A west Batesville man is facing four felony and three misdemeanor charges after he was taken into custody Thursday morning in Pleasant Plains.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m., Jan. 3. The suspect, Aaron Lee Kelley, 36, was found passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle that had just struck a Coca-Cola delivery truck at the store parking area of the Exxon Station in Pleasant Plains.
According the official report, when Deputy Adam McGilton arrived he saw Kelley get out of the vehicle and put something in the trunk of the car. As McGilton was asking Kelley if he needed medical attention, he could tell Kelly was intoxicated by his slow, garbled speech and blood-shot eyes. He took Kelly into custody for driving on a suspended license and public intoxication.
Upon searching Kelley and the vehicle, authorities found a zip-locked baggie of methamphetamine, two bags of marijuana, a pill bottle containing a dozen hydrocodone tablets, a glass smoking pipe, digital scales, a jar of moonshine and several hundred dollars in cash.
Possible charges involving illegal drugs include four felonies and three misdemeanors. Kelley was taken to jail and placed under a criminal investigation department hold.
