During its regular meeting on Jan. 22, the Mountain View City Council will hear a presentation by Mi Pueblito restaurant concerning its desire for a liquor license.

The restaurant owners will be asking the city for its blessing as they take their request to the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) board in Little Rock.

We talked with Mountain View Mayor Roger Gardner as he was returning from a Municipal League meeting in Little Rock on Friday afternoon. The mayor told White River Now that Mi Pueblito is wanting to offer alcoholic beverages for sale in its restaurant and said it is his opinion that they will want the council’s approval by passing an ordinance to that effect. Mountain View is located in a dry county.

Also on the agenda is Stone County Judge Stacy Avey, who is a member of the County Jail Steering Committee. Avey will make a presentation on the need for a new jail to be funded with a sales tax that will sunset once the construction cost is paid.

The Mountain View City Council meets at 6 p.m. at the Central Fire Station Tuesday night, Jan. 22.
