Dr. Melissa P. Taverner, provost at Lyon College, spoke to the Batesville Rotary Club Monday and said the college is looking to build the college student population to around 1,100 students during its four-year strategic plan. This is the first year of that plan.
Taverner said an important part of the college’s growth is retention.
In addition to student growth numbers, Taverner said the college is working to expand the liberal arts education at Lyon as well as have a diverse college community to help build the whole person, and enhance college relationships especially with alumni and the local community.
She added that 98 to 99 percent of Lyon graduates are either employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation.
That, Taverner said, is a rate that is admired in education circles.
