Gary B.: Batesville Police K-9 gets extra protection going after the bad guys

Beny, the Batesville Police Department K-9, is an all-purpose police dog with a brand new, one-purpose vest — thanks to Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

Beny, a German Shepherd, can do what he was trained to do — help put the “bad guys” in jail with his abilities in tracking and illegal drug detection.

And to help him, he is protected by a vest specifically designed to give protection to Beny and other police dogs as they carry out their duties.

Beny’s handler is Amber Branscum (pictured with Beny), an officer with the Batesville Police Department. Branscum says she and Beny were certified together. They joined the department in June of 2018 and have worked together ever since.

Beny is very friendly, people oriented, and a hard worker, according to Branscum. She said Beny loves to eat and loves treats.

But don’t get him wrong. When it’s time to work, he is all business.

The pair have been out and about for only 18 months, but Beny has already been responsible for taking a lot of dope off streets and putting the perpetrators in jail.

Thanks to a dedicated staff including Amber and Beny, the Batesville Police Department is recognized as one of the very best in Arkansas. And, thanks to Vested Interest in K9s, Inc, Beny has the protection he needs to do his job to the best of his abilities.
