Independence County Judge Robert Griffin pointed us in the direction of an online publication, Business View North America.

Independence County is featured in the publication’s March/April 2019 edition.

The publication visited with three community leaders:  Judge Griffin, the Founder and CEO of First Community Bank, Dale Cole and the CEO of Citizens Bank, Phil Baldwin.

The publication says together the two banks have close to $2-billion-dollars in deposits which “greatly contribute to the remarkable success of Independence County.”

Baldwin shared  about the county’s “Impact Independence” business plan that has revitalized the community and he noted how young leaders have greatly contributed to its success.

Cole shared the changes he has seen in the 31 years he has lived in Independence County. Cole said he envisions an expanded industrial park and a strong push for recreation in the area.

Judge Griffin talked about the good tax base with solid industries and businesses contributing to the success.  Griffin said the county’s population is almost 38,000 with a county seat having a population of just over 10,000. He also noted Independence County serves a population of over 200,000 as a merchant center for itself and six contiguous counties.

Griffin also talked about the growth of top-notch area industries and new businesses that have recently made Batesville home.

All three spoke of a partnership of government, business, industry, education and medical communities.
