Three people were charged on March 25 in Stone County Circuit Court.  One was charged with breaking or entering and theft of property. Court records indicate an arrest warrant has been issued Johnny Dale Reed, 26, in connection with a vehicle theft on March 17 in Mountain View.

Reed is accused of breaking into a woman’s truck and taking the keys to a 2012 Jeep Compass which was parked at Wal-Mart in Mountain View.  He is also accused of driving that vehicle to Kentucky where he was arrested, and the vehicle recovered.

Both charges against Reed are felonies.  A bond has been set at $10,000.

The second and third Circuit Court filings were against Brittany Ilene Slaton, 33.  A warrant has been issued for her arrest. The court documents said she was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Zachary Charles Mayfield, 39, who was stopped for a traffic violation. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. The court information said when computer information came back on Mayfield, he was ordered to await the arrival of a state trooper. Mayfield was ordered to step out of his vehicle.  Instead, he accelerated and sped away, leading police on a high-speed chase.

The court documents state at the end of the chase, Mayfield’s vehicle ended up stopped in a wooded area where he and Slaton surrendered.

During a search of Mayfield’s vehicle, methamphetamine was found in Slaton’s purse, and in the seat of the vehicle. Both subjects were taken into custody with Slaton being charged with felony possession of methamphetamine.  Her bond was set at $10,000.

Mayfield was charged with two felonies: possession of methamphetamine and fleeing. He is also charged with three misdemeanors: reckless driving, criminal mischief and obstructing government operations.  His bond was set at $15,000.

Both are being charged as habitual offenders due to their history of felony convictions.
