The Ozark Gateway Leo Rainey Tourism Appreciation Banquet has been set for Thursday, April 25 at the Jacksonport Visitor’s Center (pictured), located just outside of Newport.

Cathy Drew, executive director for Ozark Gateway, said the new facility has limited seating so those who wish to attend should order their tickets before they are all taken, noting the $35 individual tickets will be sold on a first come-first served basis and must be purchased in advance.

The banquet’s featured speaker will be the president of Think Idea Studio in Searcy, Mat Faulkner. He is involved in the rejuvenation of downtown Searcy and is also part of the team that helped Searcy win the Small Business Revolution contest.

Drew said someone from the Ozark Gateway Region will be honored with the Tom Biggs Award for excellence in tourism, and someone from the region’s media will be recognized with the Wilson Powell Media Support Award. Those two awards are in addition to other recognitions to be bestowed during the banquet. Drew said all that is in addition to a wonderful meal that evening.
