The Southerners defeated Batesville on Thursday night with a final score of 2-1.
Braden Jones recorded the win on the mound.
Jones allowed just six hits to Batesville while giving up one run and striking out nine Pioneers.
The Southerners had 2 runs on 5 hits with one error. Will Sitkowski, Bo Trucks, Payton Walls, Cole Langston and Jones each collected one hit to lead Southerners.
Payton Walls hit a one out double in the third inning. Walls then advanced to third on a passed ball and Bo Trucks drove him in to score the games first run on a sac fly.
Cole Langston then hit a 2 out ground rule double and Braden Jones drove him in with a single up the middle and advancing to second on the throw, collecting a RBI.
The Pioneers threatened late with runners on first and second with 2 outs in the top of the seventh inning. Rhett Crafton hit a line drive to left field and Southerner Will Sitkowski made a great diving catch coming in on the ball to end the game.
The Southerners return to action Friday with a non conference game at home against Vilonia starting at 4:30 p.m.
