Southside Public School System Superintendent Roger Rich said today the district will be welcoming some new personnel for the next school year.
In addition to hiring a new senior girl’s head basketball coach, Jordan Riley, from the Two Rivers Public School District, Southside is adding an assistant in the band program.
Rich said the band program under Tyler Fields has grown three-fold in the last two years and is regarded as one of the better programs in this area of Arkansas. Rich said with the number of band students growing every year, Fields needs and was promised an assistant. Coming to Southside as assistant band director is Matthew Womble from Bryant. He will start at Southside in August.
Rich also said upon the retirement of the current pre-school director, he has promoted Lisa McGee from within the program. He said McGee has been in the program for over 10 years and has seen pre-school enrollment grow from 20 children 14 years ago to over 200 children this year.
