A domestic argument over a DVD (believed to have been stolen) led to a man being charged in Stone County Circuit Court with five felonies.
As the dispute escalated, the suspect, Spencer Dale Alexander, 54, allegedly opened a black-bladed folding knife and attacked the victim, Tonya Sanders, according to the court information.
During the incident, Alexander also apparently cut his wife with the knife when she tried to stop the fight. Sanders also sustained a serious deep laceration.
Alexander was found and charged with: aggravated residential burglary; first-degree battery; terroristic threatening; aggravated assault; breaking or entering; and third-degree domestic battery.
Alexander’s bond was set at $250,000.

In the second case, Derik Shane Evins, 48, was charged with two felonies and charged as a habitual offender since he has been previously convicted of four or more felonies. Evins is accused of assaulting and threatening his girlfriend at a residence on Misenheimer Road. The court information said Evins threatened to cut her throat and hit her in the head with a three-pound hammer.
Evins has been taken into custody and placed on a $20,000 bond.
