Independence County man charged for failing to register as sex offender

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the 16th Judicial District Kellye Barber has charged an Independence County man with not complying with reporting requirements for registered sex offenders.

Barber said in the court information that Richard Willard Davis, 51, failed to verify his residency within ten days as required by law.

The offense is a felony and punishable by imprisonment with a minimum of three years and a maximum of 10 years in prison, and a fine of $10,000 or a combination of both.

The court record said Davis is in custody and has been placed on a $40,000 bond.
