Quick action by two employees of Entergy in Mountain View helped save the lives of two employees of Fiber Energy Pellet Mill, located in the Stone County Industrial Park, when the operation caught fire last month.

The two Entergy employees, Ethan McClung and Eric Mitchell, were recently honored for their acts of heroism by receiving the Arkansas Diamond Award through the Arkansas Secretary of State’s office.

McClung and Mitchell were at the Entergy facility when they saw smoke from the pellet mill from across the road on March 15. The two also spotted two injured pellet mill employees on the roof of the burning building. The fire department had not yet arrived, and an ambulance had just arrived on the scene.

After driving over to the fire in an Entergy utility truck, McClung and Mitchell cut power to the building and then utilized the truck’s bucket to take the ambulance crew to start administering first aid to the injured workers on the roof. The Entergy crew also helped lower the injured employees to the ground and into the ambulance.
