Concord native Roark named head women’s basketball coach at Florida College

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – Florida College Athletic Director, Pat Todd has announced the hiring of Concord, Ark. native Jacob Roark as head women’s basketball coach.

Roark has been the head coach for the Arkansas 16U women’s AAU team, The Bricklayers, for the last two years. During his time as head coach, they played in over 15 tournaments and finished first or second all but twice. They played in the national tournament each year.

As a player, Roark suited up for the Falcons from 2017-2019. He scored 799 points in two seasons after transferring from Harding University. He averaged 13.5 points per game as a Falcon. Roark made 181 three-pointers in his FC career. He was named 2nd Team All-Conference as a senior.

“I’m extremely excited to coach this team,” stated Roark. “I’m thankful for coach Todd believing in me and giving me this opportunity. This college and athletic program mean a lot to me, and I am proud to represent them. I can’t wait to get to work.”

“We’re thrilled to announce Jacob Roark as our new women’s basketball coach,” said athletic director Pat Todd. “When I was recruiting Jacob to come and play for us at FC, his work ethic and attention to detail immediately stood out. He was one of the elite shooters in the college game. As we talked about his career goals over the last two years, you could tell he was incredibly passionate about learning to hone his craft as a potential coach. We are excited about his ability to relate to the student-athlete, his knowledge of the Florida College brand, and his personal understanding of what it takes to be successful at this level.”

Roark is married to the former Taylor Varnell. The couple resides in Temple Terrace.
