An arrest warrant has been issued for a Stone County man in connection with being in possession of sexually explicit images of children.
In March, Michael B. Osburn (pictured), 31, was arrested on a felony warrant for failure to register as a sex offender and to register social media accounts. At that time, his cell phone was taken as evidence by Lt. Dammon McGilton of the Stone County Sheriff’s Office and held until a search warrant could be obtained to verify social media accounts.
Stone County Circuit Court documents said earlier this month, a search warrant was obtained from Judge Holly Meyer. A search was conducted on Osburn’s cell phone. Investigators located over 16,600 digital images of matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child that appeared to be less than 14 years of age and pre-puberty images to include infants and toddlers, according to the court docs.
The court records said investigators also located photos of Osburn and screenshots of apps used to gain access into illegal sites for the viewing of the illegal images.
On May 8, McGilton obtained a search warrant of Osburn’s residence. Osburn and others were present inside the residence, according to authorities. The court documents said McGilton and other investigators found marijuana, computers, cell phones, and electronic devices. Digital evidence that was collected from the scene and stored at the sheriff’s office until a search warrant could be obtained to search the phones and computers.
The court record also said this case is an ongoing investigation by the Stone County Sheriff’s Office.
Osburn has been charged in circuit court with one Class C felony and 29 Class B felonies — all involving the possession of matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.
The bond on Osburn was set at $500,000. He is currently listed on the roster as an inmate at the Stone County Detention Center. Osburn also faces charges in Independence County. Click here for more.
