Gary B.: Stone County Circuit Court round-up

Here’s a rundown of recent activity from Judge Tim Weaver’s Stone County Circuit Court bench:

— A Stone County woman entered a negotiated plea of guilty to two counts involving illegal drugs and was sentenced to three years in a regional detention center.

Circuit court records say Marie D. Oden, 37, entered the plea to possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia — both felonies. Oden was sentenced to three years on each count to run concurrently for a total of three years. Oden was also fined $1,500 plus court and associated costs for a total of $2,545.

— Two felony charges against Rebecca Diana Avey, 39, were dropped: third-degree escape and hindering apprehension.

Avey then entered a negotiated plea of guilty to six counts of drug-related charges including possession of meth and paraphernalia, DWI (drugs), possession of marijuana, and refusing to submit to an intoxication test.

Avey was placed on probation for five years and fined $2,500 plus court and associated costs.

— Dewayne Jay Newman, 39, entered a negotiated plea of guilty to three drug-related counts. One of the charges was possession of marijuana with the purpose to deliver. The other two counts were possession of paraphernalia charges.

Newman was sentenced to 48 months probation and fined $1,200 plus court and associated costs.

— Charles Edward Ferguson, 45, was sentenced to 60 months in a regional correctional facility after entering a negotiated plea of guilty to theft of property, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance. Ferguson was also fined $2,500 plus court and associated cost for a total of $3,395. He was given credit for spending 150 days in jail awaiting his negotiated plea.

— Joshua Kane Lee, 29, entered a negotiated plea of guilty to six counts involving drugs including maintaining a drug premises. He was sentenced to 72 months in a regional lock-up, and fined $2,500 plus court costs.

— Tasha Lee Bowman, 33, was sentenced to 36 months in the Arkansas Department of Corrections on a negotiated plea of guilty to commercial burglary and theft of property. She was also fined $1,500 plus court costs and ordered to pay restitution of $4,955 to the Iron Order Motorcycle Club. She was credited with 86 days spent in jail awaiting her court appearances.

— Corey Gunter, 53, was sentenced to 60 months probation after entering a negotiated plea of guilty to aggravated assault and terroristic threatening. Gunter was also fined $2,500 plus court costs.
