The Batesville Police Department celebrated its recent move to the former Dowell Transport building with a ribbon cutting from the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce and a fish fry today. Area officials and dignitaries joined Batesville Police Chief Alan Cockrill, Mayor Rick Elumbaugh, and members of the police force for the event which was catered by Fred’s Fish House. The mayor thanked various parties for their part in making the move possible including members of the Dowell family and city council members, both past and current. Elumbaugh also thanked Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens and his department, noting that the departments work well together.
