Three men were arrested and charged in Independence County Circuit Court with several felonies including breaking and entering, possession of meth, and theft of property.

Brandon Earl Smith, 30, was charged with breaking and entering when Smith entered a vehicle that he did not own. He then resisted arrest when an officer arrived.

Smith was also charged with public intoxication of drugs and a bond was set at $25,000 dollars.

Two more men were charged as habitual offenders, Matthew Douglas Swain, 30, and Fred Owen Hicks, 47.

Swain was charged with felony theft when he stole a vehicle and wrecked it about two miles from where it was stolen.

Swain was also charged as a habitual offender from a previous conviction of more than one, but less than four felonies. He has been placed under a $5,000 bond.

Hicks was charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was charged after Agent Krista Winchester found Hicks in possession of methamphetamine.

Hicks was also charged with being a habitual offender, since he has previously been convicted of five felonies. His bond was set at $10,000.
