The Stone County Sheriff’s Office was notified around 8:45 a.m. Thursday morning of an infant death in the south end of the county.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Zach Alexander said the infant was pronounced deceased at the Stone County Medical Center.
Arkansas State Police is the primary investigating agency and will be assisted by the Stone County Sheriff’s Department.
The chief said, following standard operating procedure, the infant was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
Alexander said foul play is not suspected and the name or other information will not be released at this time.
