Arkansas State Police have shared in a press release information regarding an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday night in Van Buren county.
William Beck, 41, of Shirley died Sunday evening during a reported exchange of gunfire with Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies.
Authorities with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department have requested special agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division to conduct a “use of deadly force by a law enforcement officer” investigation.
Deputies responded to a disturbance at a Hazel Avenue residence around 10:40 p.m on Sunday, June 9. Upon entering the home, deputies were met with gunfire and returned fire both inside and outside the home.
Beck’s body was later discovered inside the house. A gun was found near his body.
Beck’s body and other evidence were turned over to the Arkansas State Police for further investigation.
