According to a Facebook post by the Batesville Fire Department. Fire crews responded to a cut gas line with fire on Thursday morning.
Captain Russell chose to let the fire burn until the gas supply was cut off.
Crews extinguished the remaining fire and attempted to cool the trencher so gas utility employees could seal off the damaged line and restore service to local customers.
No city employees were injured.
Byers Street between 24th and 25th streets will be closed until at least Monday according to the Batesville Fire Department.
