“Celebrate America,” the annual Fourth of July celebration of our nation’s founding, will be hosted by Citizens Bank for the 22nd consecutive year on Thursday, July 4, at Riverside Park in Batesville.

A full afternoon and evening of fun, food and music is scheduled along the banks of the White River in the park.  A variety of food vendors and children’s activities, including bounce houses and face-painting, will be open by 1 p.m.

The live entertainment will be headlined by The ShotGunBillys, a high energy southern rock band which “blends Memphis blues with a steady Arkansas country handshake,” according to a release from the bank. The band, which hails from the outskirts of Memphis, was “nurtured on the sounds that made Memphis great but have carved a distinct sound that blends it all.”  An acoustic set by Garrett Duncan, a musician from Poughkeepsie, will open the music at 6 p.m. The ShotGunBillys will take the stage at 7 p.m.

The “Celebrate America” festivities will be topped off at 9:15 p.m. by one of the region’s premier fireworks displays, filling the sky nearly overhead from the staging area in Kennedy Park, located directly across the river from Riverside Park.  The fireworks will be choreographed to music that will be played in the park and also broadcast on White River Now radio station Arkansas 103.3 KWOZ.

“Citizens Bank is proud to provide families a great place to gather on the banks of the White River to observe Independence Day with fun, fellowship, and entertainment,” said Phil Baldwin, CEO of Citizens Bank.  “We are grateful for the continued support of all of our generous sponsors who help make this event happen each year, including our major sponsors, the Batesville Daily Guard, and WhiteRiverNow.com.” Also, this year White River Health System has moved up to the rocket level and we are very thankful for their generous sponsorship.

Other “Celebrate America” sponsors include Amy Beth Anderson and Vernon Company, Bad Boy Mowers, City of Batesville, Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce, Batesville Poultry, CADM Architecture, Clark Contractors, Colton’s Steakhouse, Flowers Baking, Future Fuel, Greenway Equipment, Harps, Holiday Inn Express, Intimidator Inc., Life Plus, Mark Martin Ford, Mark Martin Kia, Ozark Information Services, Peco Foods, Platinum Metal Works, Pleth, Precise Heating & Air, Ramada Inn, Strategic Companies, UACCB, Walmart, and White River Insurance Agency.

Visitors should note that the parking lot for Kennedy Park will be closed all day on Thursday, July 4.  A parking area will be provided for trucks with boat trailers. Because the area around Kennedy Park will be closed for the detonation of the fireworks, only one boat ramp will be available for access by boats on the White River; however, that ramp will close about 8 p.m., and access to the sandbar will be allowed until 8 p.m., based on the river level that day.
