A woman ended up behind bars after authorities were summoned to a motel on St. Louis Street in Batesville earlier this month.

Court documents note Batesville Police Department Investigator Dillon Sallas along with Chris Toland, a narcotics investigator for the Independence County Sheriff’s Department, went to the motel on July 1 to investigate a drug-related complaint and interview Michelle Deeann Reins, 49, of Cushman.

Upon their arrival, Sallas noted Reins “appeared to be under the influence due to having a difficult time walking, standing up straight, disruptive behavior by yelling, as well as excessive movements,” according to the affidavit of probable cause for arrest.

The investigator noted Reins was preparing to exit the motel when they detained her and gained permission to search the vehicle in which she would be leaving. Officers found a duffle bag which contained two glass smoking devices and a baggie of meth, the court documents note.

Reins was arrested and charged with the two felonies: possession of a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia

Reins was placed on a $10,000 bond by Judge Chaney Taylor.
