There might be a slight break in ultra-hot summer temperatures this week with highs predicted in the lower 80s for the next few days. However, forecasters predict temps will begin creeping back up over the weekend, so it’s always smart to be careful and cognizant of the Arkansas humidity and heat.

At the studios of the White River Now family of radio stations, Ted Hall with the White River Area Agency on Aging recently visited with Big Daddy Randy Alan to discuss the effects of the heat on the elderly, noting we should make sure to regularly check on the elderly we know who live alone. Some do not have air conditioning or face other conditions that behoove them to have someone consistently check on them.

The White River Area Agency on Aging offers many programs for the elderly, including Meals on Wheels, which is a way a person is seen on a regular basis. For more information on the White River Area Agency on Aging, visit their website by clicking here.
