Batesville man killed, another injured in accident east of Newark


A Batesville man was killed Friday afternoon in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 69 east of Newark.

Juan Rodas Santizo, 23, died after he was driving southbound in a 2010 Honda when his vehicle traveled left of center and struck a northbound 2005 Ford, according to the Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash summary. The driver of the Ford was injured and taken to White River Medical Center. Another vehicle driving behind Santizo was also listed as being involved, but no injuries were reported.

Weather conditions were dry and clear at the time of the accident. Santizo was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the summary.
