Region 8 News is reporting that a victim in last night’s head-on collision outside Cave City participated in a deadly 1998 school shooting at Jonesboro’s Westside Middle School when he was 11.
Drew Grant, 33, of Jackson, Mo., died in last night’s accident on Highway 167, around 2.9 miles south of Highway 230. The 2017 Honda CR-V he was driving was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Daniel Petty, 59, of Essex, Mo. after the Tahoe went left of the center line, crossed the turn lane, and traveled into both northbound lanes where it struck Grant’s vehicle (pictured above), according to the preliminary fatal crash summary from the Arkansas State Police. Petty was also killed in the accident.
A passenger in Petty’s vehicle, and two passengers, including a juvenile, in Grant’s vehicle were also injured. Traffic on Highway 167 was stopped after the accident as authorities worked the scene with the injured being airlifted. (For more on this story, click here.)
