Lots of summertime fun is planned for the 76th White River Water Carnival which will be held Sept. 7, at Batesville’s Riverside Park.
“The theme of this year’s carnival is ‘Summer Forever,’” Kyle Christopher, tourism director for the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce, noted in a press release. “As summer-related activities begin to wind down, we wanted to celebrate some of the things that make summer great: barbecue, water slides, classic cars, and water sports.
“New this year is the four-story, one-hundred-foot-long, Patriot Inflatable Water Slide. This is one of the largest inflatable slides in the world. This is guaranteed to be a blast for kids and adults. The Bounce House Extravaganza will also be back this year. While there is no admission fee for the event, these attractions do require the purchase of an armband for $10,” said Christopher.
Favorites like the Smokin’ on the White BBQ Championship, River City Cruisers’ Car Show, Kid Zone, and Water Carnival Parade will take place at Riverside Park. Water events will include several ski and wakeboard demonstrations and the return of the professional hydro flight team Aquafly (pictured above in a file image) of Austin, Tex. Hydro flight rides will also be available to the public for purchase. A live, professional, DJ will be on-site to accompany the water demonstrations and to entertain the crowd all day.
Parade entry forms, vendor applications, and a full schedule of events can be found at whiteriverwatercarnival.com.
