Two men arrested after altercation at Southside restaurant

Two men were arrested after deputies were called to an altercation at a Southside restaurant early Saturday morning.

Upon arrival at Oscar’s Smokehouse & Grill, Independence County Sheriff’s Deputy Jordan Turner noted restaurant personnel were holding one of the culprits, who was attempting to fight with everyone, on the ground until officers arrived, according to the incident report.

Turner noted in the report that Dalton Candler, 21, of Sage, Ark., became unruly, started cursing, refused to cooperate, and had to be forcefully placed in a patrol unit.

Turner said Candler (pictured, above) continued to remain uncooperative all the way to jail, passing out and vomiting several times in the patrol car because of his intoxication level. Turner said he had to use a wheelchair in order to place Candler into the jail building and into a cell, according to the report.

Turner was then called back to the restaurant because a second man who was involved in the initial incident had returned. Officers found the man, Tadrick Jones, 24, of Cave City, in a vehicle outside the restaurant.

The police report said while officers were talking with Jones, they requested he step out of the vehicle so they could check for any weapons. That’s when they noticed a baggie of what later tested positive as marijuana in the door pocket. Turner said Jones then became irate and strenuously fought being handcuffed.

Two officers managed to get the cuffs on Jones and take him to jail.

Turner said at the jail, Jones was issued a citation and given a court date for possession of marijuana, public intoxication, and resisting arrest. Jones was also issued a Criminal Trespass warning and advised to never return to the restaurant or be anywhere on the premises.
