The Cedar Ridge Timberwolves have hired Josh Austin as the new head football coach.

Austin (pictured above with players) has 11 years of coaching experience, with his last three years being at the Bald Knob School District. Prior to his position as assistant football coach for the Bulldogs, Austin spent two years at Southside and four years at Newport.

Austin’s resume displays three conference championships, one state runner-up, one semi-final team, and multiple playoff appearances across different sports, according to a release announcing the hire.

“I am excited to go into this season with this group of players and coaches as we continue to build off the successes of the program over the last few years,” Austin said.

Superintendent Andy Ashley is delighted to have Austin at Cedar Ridge.

“I am excited about the future of the Timberwolf program with Coach Austin now leading our program,” he said. “Coach Austin has the enthusiasm it takes to build a program from senior high down to third grade, but the most significant asset I believe Coach Austin brings is his impeccable character. He is living out the vision of Cedar Ridge — ‘Preparing Today’s Students to Become Tomorrow’s Leaders.’ Coach Austin is making leaders out of our young men. I would be proud for my son to play for him.”

Cedar Ridge football kicks off this Friday, Aug. 23 with a scrimmage home game against Walnut Ridge.
