In a brief statement released this morning, the Independence County Sheriff’s Department says the body discovered in southern Independence County on Monday has been identified — and the death is being investigated as “suspicious.”
The department says the body, which was found outdoors near a residence on Union Hill Road, was that of a 49-year-old male and that they are in contact with the agency where the incident occurred.
The statement did not release the name of the victim.
