Independence County Sheriff’s Deputies answered two domestic calls yesterday, according to a press release from the department.
Sheriff Shawn Stephens said the first incident was in the Pfeiffer community when deputies were called to a home where family members had gotten into a physical altercation. He said neither party wanted to pursue charges on the other.
The second call was in Newark. Deputies were called to a home where two family members were involved in a dispute, and charges were filed. The sheriff said the suspect was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault in the third degree.
