The Mountain View Yellowjackets started the season off on the road with a 30-28 victory over the Magnet Cove Panthers.
After a slow start, the Yellowjackets scored on three consecutive possessions in the late first and early second quarter to take a 24-7 halftime lead.
In the second half, Mountain View’s Blaine Sowers recovered a Panther fumble on the first play from scrimmage, this would lead to a 7-yard touchdown run by Tim Curran and a 30-7 lead early in the third quarter.
Magnet Cove offense scored on three out of its next four possessions, but the Yellowjackets defense would deny the two-point try on the final score to maintain the slim two-point lead.
After forcing a Yellowjacket fumble, Magnet Cove would have one final shot to take the lead but Blaine Sowers would intercept a Tyler Hodges pass to secure the victory.
Mountain View starts the season 1-0.
