The Southerners fell to Pocahontas in the season opener Friday night 42-18.
Pocahontas opened with a 15-yard touchdown run to go up 6-0 in the first quarter.
The Redskins led at half time 20-6 and in the third quarter, a 6-yard run brought Pocahontas up 28-6.
The Southerners got a 6-yard run from Brayden Jones and right at the end of the game a 14-yard touchdown pass from Jones to Smith.
The southerners moved to 0-1 on the season. Next week they take on Cave City next at Stewart Field for the final Highway 167 Showdown.
