The Batesville Pioneers went down to defeat for the second straight week at Pioneer Stadium, falling 35-7 to the Class 6A Jonesboro Golden Hurricanes.
Jonesboro scored four times in the first half to lead 28-0 at the half.
The Hurricanes took the second half kick-off and scored to push their lead to 35-0.
The Pioneers responded with their best drive of the night, getting solid runs from Ethan Ridgel and a long Eli Livingston pass to Tevin Whitaker pass to set-up a Livingston one-yard touchdown run.
Alejandro Medina kicked the extra point to make the score 35-7, which became the final.
The Pioneers fell to 0-2 on the season and will travel next Friday to Searcy to take on the Class 6A Searcy Lions.

Going to be yet another long and dreary season for the Pioneers. There needs to be some big changes made. Some new blood. New ideas. But with 99% of the “supporters” happy with mediocre, it’s not going to change.
