Independence County Judge Robert Griffin has pulled an ordinance affecting log-hauling trucks off tonight’s agenda for the Independence County Quorum Court’s meeting.
In an email to White River Now and other media outlets, the judge said he was pulling the ordinance because “…it has had the effect of drawing attention to the problem and an alternative solution is possible. A representative of logging interests has indicated that a solution could be forthcoming from the timber association to help with the issue presented.”
Griffin went on to say the ordinance would not be considered “…in hope that a suitable solution could come from the industry itself.”
The court meets in Batesville at the Jess B. Carpenter Building tonight at 6 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
