You may have noticed the decals on the side of Vital Link ambulances and some Batesville School District school buses addressing suicide awareness and prevention.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for individuals aged 15-29. according to the World Health Organization.

White River Now spoke with Kathy Lanier of the North Central Trauma Regional Advisory Council about the campaign using decals designed by Ryan Longo. The council donated $2,000 from their Injury Prevention Grant to make the decals possible.

Lanier noted the three main emphasis areas of the campaign were awareness, prevention, and empowerment of individuals to have conversations about suicide.

Lanier also said that aside from Vital Link ambulance service and Batesville School District’s participation in displaying these decals that ambulance services in surrounding counties have also joined in displaying the decals to help spread the message of suicide awareness and prevention.
