Mountain View Yellowjackets win the first game in conference action Friday night


The Mountain View Yellowjackets defeated the Cedar Ridge Timberwolves 44-8 to open conference play 1-0.

The Yellowjackets scored early and often as Quarterback Tim Curran completed a 26-yard pass to J’Air Jackson, two-point conversion was good and Mountain View led 8-0.

Mountain View would score on its next two possessions a 15-yard touchdown run and a nine-yard touchdown run both by Curran to lead 24-0 at halftime.

Cedar Ridge would get on the board in the third quarter on a 60-yard touchdown run by Jesse Massey to cut the lead to 24-8.

Mountain View would close it out in the final quarter with a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown by Jackson, a 17-yard touchdown pass from Joseph Rentz to Logan Shipman and a one-yard touchdown run by Rentz to close out the scoring and a 44-8 victory for the Yellowjackets.

Curran was the leading rusher with 80 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns with Jackson having 75 yards receiving and 97 punt return yards and two total touchdowns.

Mountain View improves to 2-2 on season and 1-0 in conference play.  Cedar Ridge drops to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
