getprev

An Independence County man told a deputy the reason his vehicle was in the ditch was due to water on the roadway from a recent rain causing him to slide off into the ditch.

Facts at the scene tell a different story.

Deputy Cydney Baxter noticed a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the car’s driver, Tyler Stephens, 33, and a male passenger.

Stephens was taken to jail where he was administered two blood-alcohol content tests.  One measured .282 and the other .284. Each one measuring three times the average intoxication level of .08.

Deputy Baxter cited Stephens with Driving While Intoxicated as well as Careless and Prohibited Driving.

His driver’s license was confiscated, but he was given a temporary license to allow him to get to work.
