The Southerners’ defense stood tall in the second half allowing only nine plays in the third quarter as the Southerners pull out a two-point, 21-19 win on the road over Central Arkansas Christian and keep control of their playoff future and a possible home playoff game.
The Southerners were down 13-7 at the half with Alex Palmer’s thirteenth touchdown of the season being Southside’s only score.
The third quarter belonged to the Southerner defense as they forced three straight three and outs.
Braden Jones scored from two yards out to give Southside a 14-13 lead.
Larkin Jones 23 yard run put the Southerners up 21-13 with two minutes to play.
The Mustangs scored with 48 seconds left but the Southerners’ defense held strong on the two-point conversion to get the win.
The Southerners travel to Heber Springs next week in a huge rivalry game.
