Michael Joseph Stavely, 68 of Poughkeepsie passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born Dec. 11, 1950 in Granite City, Illinois to Robert J. and Delcie Morgan Stavely. He was retired from General Motors in Missouri and was a cattle farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Sandra Jo Jones Stavely of the home; two daughters, Laura Stavely (Dan) of Warrenton, Missouri and Amy Spurlock (Kyle) of Poughkeepsie; one grandson, Colton Stavely of Warrenton, Missouri; one granddaughter, Ella Jo Spurlock of Poughkeepsie; one sister, Gayle Sherertz (Ron) of Missouri; one brother, James Anthony Stavely (Barb) of Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bettis Town Church of Christ with C.C. Baird officiating. Burial will follow in the Spotts Cemetery at Poughkeepsie with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Colton Stavely, Tommy Morgan, Darrell Parsley, Dwayne Jones, Franklin Powell, and Dale Koester.
Honorary pallbearers are Stan Jones, Artie “Sonny” Branch, Kenneth Coats, Dean Parsley, Jerry Hawthorn, and Kenny Morgan.
Remember him fondly when you pull on your boots, drink black coffee, check the cows and hear classic country music.
