John W. Evans, 89 of Banner died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019. He was born July 26, 1930 in Banner, Arkansas to Albert Franklin and Mary Magdalene Martin Evans. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Church in Scotland where he had served as a deacon. He loved to fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Marcia Evans and two brothers, Tommy Evans and Eldon Evans.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Dorothy Jacobs Evans of the home; one son, Frank Evans (Janie) of Banner; two step-sons, James Harrison and Chris Harrison (Pat) both of Scotland; two daughters, Mary Evans Calhoun (Stacy) of Floral and Martha Webb of Sheridan; one brother, Eugene Evans (Gailya) of North Little Rock; two sisters, Ellene Cox of Floral and Mary Dene Rhodes (Virgil) of Overland Park, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Crossroads Cowboy Church in Pleasant Plains with Jeremy Cox officiating.
