The Batesville Area Arts Council is presenting, Navigate by Reckoning, an exhibition by Claudia Wilburn, at the BAAC Gallery on Main at 226 E. Main St., through Nov. 16.
This interactive exhibition features mixed media prints and paintings of the artist’s ancestors.
Wilburn is an artist and professor of art and design at Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga. Much of Wilburn’s art is autobiographical, drawing from life experiences, emotional journeys, and memorabilia.
The work in this exhibition is drawn from another element: oral histories, a release from BAAC noted. Wilburn’s hope is that when viewing these artworks of her ancestors, you are reminded of your own historical connection to your forebears and the stories shared that connect us all.
The gallery reception for this exhibition will be held on Friday, Nove. 15, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a brief artist talk at 6 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
