According to a police report by Independence County Deputy Cydney Baxter, counterfeit $10 bills have turned up in the Cave City area.
One was taken by a convenience store and station, just outside Cave City. That bill was taken to the bank to confirm it was counterfeit.
Later, at the same convenience store, an older gentleman bought gas, and in paying for it, he gave a $10 bill that was marked at the store and tested to be counterfeit. The man said he had more of the bills in his possession that he had received in Cave City. He went to his car and got the money and had the cashier mark the bills. All turned out to be counterfeit. According to the incident report, the man took the counterfeit bills to the Cave City Police Department and reported how he had received them.
