A membership drive is underway for the Independence County Library Friends Foundation.

Membership dues to the foundation will help offset the costs of operating the larger, more accessible library, and better serve everyone in Independence County, a release noted.

The new location, now in its second year, has increased the size of the library by over 200 percent. Library visitor numbers have increased over 25 percent, and engagement is up by 500 percent.

This month, a free shirt comes with the sign-up of a new member. An individual membership is $25 or $500 for a lifetime membership. The price for a family membership is $50, and corporate membership is $100 and comes with advertising opportunities along with a discount of 10 percent off anything purchased at the bookstore.
