Mr. Billy E. Ferguson of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at the age of 72.
He was born Dec. 11, 1946, in Jackson County, the son of Joseph Edward and Rosie (Martin) Ferguson.
Mr. Ferguson was a 1964 graduate of Newport High School, and had earned his EMT certification. He retired from Arkansas Steel Associates in 2019 after 48 years of service as an Environmental Manager. Mr. Ferguson was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Newport Lion’s Club.
He enjoyed singing and playing guitar, feeding birds in his yard, mowing, bowling, watching football and baseball, and loved telling jokes. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Ferguson was a member of the Weiner Christian Church, where he enjoyed helping with the Big Bodacious Easter Egg Hunt each year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sammy and Curtis Ferguson; and two sisters, Helen Wingo and Anna Ruth Estes. Mr. Ferguson is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lee Ann (Largent) Ferguson of the home; two sons, Shane Ferguson and wife, Cynthia, of Mountain Home, Joe Ferguson of Cherokee Village; one daughter, Tammy Helms of Flippin; six grandchildren, David Joshua Helms, Kyler Ferguson, Kaylee Ferguson, Delaney Ferguson, Noah Ferguson, and Abraham Baxter; one great-grandson, Michael Helms; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Weiner Christian Church, with Bro. Rick Green officiating. Interment will be in Watson Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church, 9 a.m. until service time.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Joe Ferguson, David Joshua Helms, Bobby Gilmore, Anthony Rouse, Braden Duke, Chase Fowler, and Lynn Hightower. Honorary pallbearers are Arkansas Steel Associate Employees and members of Mason Lodge Jackson 191.
