Independence County authorities were called to Dry Run Circle to two separate fires last night.

Independence County Sheriff’s Deputy Adam McGilton was dispatched to 190 Dry Run Circle to a vehicle fire at around 11:30 p.m. and found an early model Mercury Grand Marquis Sedan on fire.

Apparently, the vehicle was the property of Myron Smith, who authorities say is currently incarcerated at the Independence County Detention Facility on a probation revocation warrant.

About two hours later, around 1:30 a.m., McGilton was dispatched back to 190 Dry Run Circle in reference to a travel trailer on fire.

The deputy said a man who had called in the fire said someone had set the fire, ran into the woods, and disappeared. Both fires were extinguished by the Ruddell Hill Fire Department.

Police said there are suspects in both incidents, which have been listed as arson cases, and both cases are still under investigation.
