Obituary: Virgie Mae Douthit

Virgie Mae Douthit, 89, of Bradford departed this life Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019.  She was born April 22, 1930, to Clarence and Alma (Rorie) Tilley.

Mrs. Douthit was a member of Bradford Missionary Baptist Church.  She loved to read, shop yard sales, crafts and most of all cook for her family.  During the Vietnam War, she worked for Pace in Russell making hand grenades.  She retired from General Industries in Bald Knob after 21 years as an Inspector.  After her retirement, she worked as a pastry cook at Harding College in Searcy.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Joe Douthit; parents; twin sisters that died at birth, sisters, Lilly Rozenboom, Dorothy Pasley, Imogene Canard, and Lorene Brownlow.

Her survivors are daughter, Judy Douthit Snook of Bradford; grandson, Richard “Skipper” Snook (Renee) of Bradford; sisters, Venita Martin (Burnice) of Monette, Janice Douglas of Rector, Nola Hawkins of Alpena, and Helen Kennedy of Memphis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel.
