What an ending it was to a case of a “lost wallet.”

Batesville Police Department (BPD) Officer Jordan Akins responded to the White River Medical Center where someone had lost their wallet.

According to a release from the BPD, Akins reviewed video footage of where the victim had parked. In the footage, the officer noted a couple who had been parked next to the victim’s vehicle picking up something from the ground and leaving. The two later returned to the hospital at which time Officer Akins met them. The couple advised Akins that they had just turned the wallet in at the front desk.

The wallet was then returned to the complainant, and but upon inspecting it, they discovered that $220 in cash was missing.

The case remains under investigation.

In other Batesville Police Department activity, a woman reported someone had taken her vehicle license plate.  Another woman reported that someone had entered her vehicle and taken several items from a wallet she had left inside her car while she was shopping at a local supermarket.

And another woman had left her cell phone on the roof of her car while taking other items into her apartment. She told Officer Amber Branscum that when she went back to retrieve it, she discovered it had been stolen.

There was one traffic accident in Batesville yesterday (Thursday, Dec. 5). It occurred as a woman was driving her vehicle out of the Kroger parking lot on College Street.  No injuries were reported.
