Mountain View Police: Man charged after tearing up apartment in drunken state

A Stone County man was arrested this week after authorities say he entered and then trashed an apartment in a drunken state.

On Monday, Dec. 9, Mountain View Police responded to a call from a woman who said a man, identified in the court information as Jeremiah James Roberts (pictured), 29, was inside her apartment “tearing up her house” and was intoxicated.

The report states the woman met MVPD officers in the driveway and told them she had left her door unlocked when she went to Walmart. When she returned, she said, the door was locked.

According to the report, she stated she went around to the rear window of the apartment and could hear someone inside her bedroom.

The woman said she was ultimately able to get Roberts to open the door, and once inside, she noticed multiple items broken and scattered in the dwelling.

Officers placed Roberts under arrest. He had to be escorted to the patrol car due to being intoxicated, the report said.

Roberts is facing one felony count of breaking or entering and two misdemeanors — criminal mischief and criminal trespass.

A ‘No Contact Order’ was also filed against Roberts in Stone County Circuit Court.
