Carl Eugene Nelson, Sr., 87, departed this life Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, at his home. He was born May 21, 1932, to Charles D. and Winnie (Corter) Nelson. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed golf, football, baseball, camping, and loved gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Shirley Jean (Williams) Nelson, his parents; and one brother; Charles Nelson, Jr.
His survivors are one son; Carl Eugene Nelson, Jr. of Newport, one daughter; Shirl Ann Nelson of Newport, and two sisters; Clara Nelson of Newport, and Donna Nelson Leo of Orlando, Fla.
Graveside services will be Friday, Dec. 20, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery, with visitation at the cemetery before the service from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m.
