Eagle Mountain Elementary collected over 1,000 more cans than their goal this year with a total of 4,572 non-perishable items for Christmas Brings Hope.
The students had a friendly competition for who brought the most items. Julie Huff’s second-grade class won the competition by collecting 988 non-perishable items. Carol Williams’ fifth-grade class came in second with 571 non-perishable items, and Julie Grace’s first-grade class brought 377 nonperishable items.
Christmas Brings Hope is an annual campaign that picks up non-perishable food items from area residents to help those in need each holiday season.
